Just need a little brain salad surgery

Won't be too long before Jim and I head out for our first night at the jazz festival in Detroit, where we will be treated to performances by Dr. John, McCoy Tyner, and Joey DeFrancesco. I'm sure Snickers will pout, because he doesn't understand it's his dad's birthday weekend, and that requires live music. This year, my birthday fell on Memorial Day, and Jim's birthday will be Labor Day. Nice way to bookend the summer, don'tcha think?

I'll be back late tonight with pictures; I'm sure I'll see lots of interesting characters, onstage and off. In the meantime, feel free to scroll down and enjoy the Gumby porn in the last post.

You know you want to.

7 of you felt the overwhelming need to say somethin':

Wow! Sound like a great time! What a great line up. I love (in a manly sort of way) Dr. John! And Dave Brubeck!

Is the street festival concept new this year?

I envy you! If it weren’t so late, I’d head for a jazz club in Louisville tonight. As it is, I suppose I’m left with CDs.

Ya'll have fun!

Snickers is welcome to come hang out with Sydney while you're gone. She'll show him a good time. Meanwhile, tell Jim "Happy Birthday" for us, and you be sure to show him a good time. Can't have Sydney working harder than you, now can we?

Roximoon - so...how were the ribs?

Opera gal - you need about three months of paid vacation, by my casual reckoning.

Squirl - oh, don't feel too bad for Snickers. He spent the night and today's show with Jim's mom, and he has his grandma wrapped around his spotty paw. Spoiled fuckin' dog.

Bear - yeah, this format is totally new, and I love it!
And I love Brubeck and the Doctor in a manly way, too.

Kitty - I already cracked it on his 40th. Where were you to warn me then?

SS Nick - what's the jazz club in Louisville? I know Stevie Ray's is a good blues bar.

Trish - It's Gumby's bedroom eyes, isn't it?

Tardist - um, yeah, 39, yup. And me, too! Magically, Jim and I are both the same fake age.
Hey, I see you got your profile pic workin' - I should have expected FZ.

Eclectic - well, I want you to break this gently to Syndney, but Snickers has a fiancee.
It's an arranged engagement, to be sure, but I feel like she's the only one who will ever be able to truly keep him in line.
